Question about the law of diminishing returns

I have a question regarding the law of diminishing returns. This law deals with different
issues from investments to drug use to porn use. It states that what got you excited a month ago
does not work this month. You require something more instense. For the heroin user the same
amount of heroin in the needle no longer gets him to the same high. As anyone including myself
can tell you that this is very real in porn addiction. This is where we started with an old playboy,
and ended up watching something very sick.
Gordon also calls this TOLERANCE in the inner gold manual.
The question- Can we reverse this law when the limbic system knocks us down???
In other words if failure arises, would it be better to force myself to look at porn that
is a step away from where I was a month ago??
I was exposed at 8 years old, saw hardcore at 14, 38 now and still fighting a loosing battle.

Let me give you my background, I know its good to know the common thread among us. I am married for
21 years. I am 38 years old. My first exposer was at 8 years old playing in my dads work truck found an
old magazine. This continued when I would visit my grandpa he would keep these magazines too.
By 14 one of my friends would expose me to hardcore porn. I was born again at 16 dedicated my
life to CHRIST and fought this the hardest I could. and lost and lost and lost. at 38 now I have
tried everything, nothing could keep me out longer than 6 months. I am convinced that porn
caused E.D. in me at about 35. I know this because I am in good health, I teach martial arts.
never have had a problem before. I warn my brothers out there if you continue you to will
find yourself where I am now. The fact is that as time progresses the different degrees of porn
get worse and worse, and think if we continue where is the worse porn going to take you?
GODspeed gentlemen, may you embrace this program with both arms.......

You are right on regarding tolerance and how it increases. There is almost a numbing effect that can take place after time due to the broken neurological connections that take place within addiction.
The question is not about using something a step back or "lighter" but rather what we DO EACH DAY in becoming grounded in the process of recovery. For example: Doing the Dailies. Meditation. Reading your future picture statement. Reading good books. Positive affirmations. This repetition will over time create healing and the strength needed for maintained sobriety. One day at a time.
It has taken years to train the brain to become tolerant and create addictive pathways. It takes concerted effort and daily vigilance to heal these addictive pathways. The key is to KEEP ON GOING. DO NOT GIVE UP.
Finding the balance of accountability without constantly driving self-guilt and beating ones self up combined with allowing ourselves to sit in the pain of craving. We can ask ourselves "Will it kill me to sit with this pain of craving?" It may feel like it but in reality, although painful, it will not kill us.

i find if i look at any porn, i.e. go to the beach, and dwell on it. i am just putting myself on a slippery slope. i don't think you should look at any porn. everyone's story is a little different but porn in any form is no good. do the dailies man and sign up for their weekly boosts. they're good!
